Who are we?
Vocademy is a vocal and performance training provider, offering singing, instrument, and music theory tuition with an emphasis on technique, performance skills, confidence building and artist development. This privacy notice provides you with details of how Vocademy collects and processes your personal data.
Vocademy, referred to as “we”, “us” or “our” in this privacy notice, is a brand name for the legal entity that is Danielle Baker, who is the data controller and is responsible for your personal data. We aim to maintain the highest possible standards and seek to adopt best practice with regards to the way in which we manage and process data.
Vocademy collects, uses and processes personal information about you. When we do so, we adhere to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which was incorporated into UK law following Brexit, and which is supported by the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018).
We are responsible as ‘controller’ of your personal information where you are the person named as the student or parent/guardian with whom we liaise in relation to our services with the student.
It is very important that the information we hold about you is accurate and up to date. Please let us know if at any time your personal information changes by emailing us at info@voademy.co.uk.
The personal information we collect and use
Information collected by us
We do not collect any Sensitive Data about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, or information about your health and genetic and biometric data that does not affect your lessons or the way that we teach. We do not collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.
How long your personal data will be kept
We will not hold your personal information for longer than is reasonably necessary in providing the service or as is required by law.
Upon expiry, any personal data which we are not legally obliged to retain will be securely destroyed.
We keep student and applicable parent/guardian information for the length of time that you remain a student of Vocademy, ask us to hold it to contact you in future, or up to one year after your lessons conclude with Vocademy.
We keep photographs and videos for up to three years after they are taken.
We keep your consent form for up to six years, or until you are no longer a student of Vocademy, whichever comes first.
Marketing
We would like to send you information about products and services which may be of interest to you as a student or parent/guardian.
If you consent to receiving such information, you can opt out at any time in the future. When you fill in a form or provide your details on our website, you will see one or more tick boxes allowing you to opt in to receive marketing communications from us by email, telephone, and text message.
If you consented to us using your information for marketing purposes, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time by the following means:

Other than as stated in the table above, we will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law.
As stated in the table above, Vocademy’s Administration Team and Coaches are classified as third parties and your information will be shared with them in the following circumstances:

To facilitate student attendance at taster sessions and lessons with your Coach.

Where information may be held
We will only transfer your personal data to countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data by the European Commission.

We share your personal data with WhatsApp LLC, which will involve transferring your data outside the EEA around the world as the WhatsApp service operates globally, with users and businesses around the world. We share your personal data with Vocademy Coaches. Vocademy Coaches are third parties bound by contract to protect and process your information safely and securely in line with Vocademy’s privacy policy.

Storing your website data
We store your data on secure servers in the EEA and USA with Wix and Google. Sending information over the internet is generally not completely secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of your data while it’s in transit. Any data you send is at your own risk. We have appropriate organisational and technical measures, procedures and security features in place to keep your data secure once we receive it.

Once photos or videos appear on external channels that Vocademy does not control (e.g. newspapers, retweets, or public websites), complete removal may not be technically feasible.

Keeping your personal information secure
Vocademy and its Coaches have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost or used or accessed in an unauthorised way.
Vocademy limits access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to know it.
Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to contract and a duty of confidentiality.
We follow the ICO’s guidance and procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach.
We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.
